It seems I have my JW brother back
by MegaDude inwith the shit going down on this board as of late i'd like to post something really good that happened to me lately.
i got my brother jw brother back.
back in 2001 of this same month i posted about letting jw relatives go because i got tired of the pain of hoping those relationships would be restored when it seemed impossible.

Hello everybody
by JulieM inhi everybody, my name is julie, and this is my first post.. i'm a third generation jw, or at least i was until a two weeks ago, when i was announced as no longer a jw.
i'm really happy about that, ecstatic in fact, although i'd been a jw all my life, and i'm 37 now.
i could have disassociated like my friends, but i couldn't be bothered to play their chikdish game, so i let them do it for me.

I went out tonight dancing (Ceroc) for the first time in years and it felt amazing (apart from the fact I smashed my kneecap on a door today so felt like a hobbling OAP when I got there - LOL).
Boy, have I missed dancing and boy does my body show it!!! -

fader's wife expresses 1st doubts....
by sweet pea intalking to a friend (ex-elder) today whose wife was (is) a close friend of mine .
she's still a jdub but won't talk to me now i'm df'd (apparently it hit her very hard when we left) and so she busied herself with ministry and meetings in search of comfort and affirmation of her faith.
this didn't work for her and she came out with an unexpected question... .

She's still a JDub but won't talk to me now I'm DF'd (apparently it hit her very hard when we left) and so she busied herself with ministry and meetings in search of comfort and affirmation of her faith. This didn't work for her and she came out with an unexpected question...
"So, if it really is all wrong, what else is there?" Out of interest - how would you answer this most common question?
He replied "Perhaps there's nothing?".
I am so excited at the prospect of her finally coming to her senses and realizing that she's been living in a fantasy world.
It seems that JW;s need 'something else' - the prospect of leaving for an undefined belief system scares them... erm...witless... -

have you found it difficult?
by 4digitcode into make friends since you're out of the organization?
maybe these things take time.
it's hard to establish new friendships when ones i had for years floated away in an instant.

It's a toughie, for sure.
When you are bound to friends in a cult, it is a unique experience and because you share such a surreal life as an observer not a fully fledged member of society you have unique friendships and you naturally feel that these friends are bound to you forever and love you more than anyone else will ever do.
Our friends couldn't comprehend that we weren't prepared to stay and 'struggle' with them and, together with all the other reasons (bad association etc, etc,) cut all contact with us overnight.
This is not natural and you are only human to feel a sense of loss and apprehension about the future and a loss of confidence in cultivating new friendships.
You WILL in time make new friends but there are no short cuts to friendships - it takes time to build a history with new people but the more you put into new friendships, the quicker this will happen. FAKE IT 'TIL YOU MAKE IT! :-)
I was lucky to have made some friends who weren't witnesses and I am now enjoying spending more time with them. I have also made some friends on this forum who are coming to mean the world to me.
I have also come to the conclusion that if I only ever have my immediate family and can count my true friends on one hand, I will be eternally happy - these days I know for certain that the friends I have will NEVER desert me because of what I do or do not believe - they love me for who I am not who they think/hope I am. I would rather have quality than quantity.
Hang in there, it does get better and don't feel bad about feeling sad - it's a totally natural response to your experience.
And please, please come on 1st December to London for the apostanoodle......

The Average JW WILL NOT Leave!!!!
by minimus inyou could have stupid new light every week published and the vast majority aren't going anywhere.
you could see proof of contradiction after contradiction right in front of your nose, if you're a witness.
and you still won't budge.. the reason: mental and spiritual laziness.

They won't leave because of PRIDE and FEAR.
To admit that they've been hoodwinked would be too much for them.
To realise that one has sacrificed career, children, education, travel, money, friends, soulmates, lovers, birthdays/celebrations, time, energy and years of precious life for nothing is all too much for many to even begin to face up to or contemplate so they just don't let themselves get even close to considering they might be wrong and we might be right.
Just my 2 cents.
